Text: Gotthold Ephraim Lessing
Directed by Armin Petras
2014 – National Theatre “Radu Stanca”, Sibiu
In Nathan the wise, Lessing argues for respect and recognition of the religions that fight each other – Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The performance directed by Armin Petras is the result of one of the largest co-production projects undertaken by the National Theatre “Radu Stanca” Sibiu together with the National Theatre Stuttgart. The project is not limited to a simple staging of play, but aims at concrete goals, the social dimension of terrorism and especially rasism in these two countries, each with its own particularities. Lessing’s text is “translated” from the perspective of the debate on violence in Europe today.
2015 – National Theatre „Radu Stanca” Sibiu
Text: Richard O’Brian
Directed by Cosmin Chivu
The show excels in the energy of the young people, in the vitality they share with the audience, enjoying the stage, the lights, the colour, the moment. The uniqueness and beauty of this musical are just two of the reasons why it is a show not to be missed, contributing to the well-being of each and every audience member. The live rock’n’roll music and dancing energizes both the young actors and the audience. The message of the show takes the form of acidic commentary and deep reflection on interpersonal relationships.
This musical is an adventure with outrageous costumes and spicy jokes – an invitation to party in the Transylvanian Galaxy, where anything goes.
2016 – National Theatre „Radu Stanca” Sibiu
Text: Bogdan Georgescu
Regia: Bogdan Georgescu
The show #minor is based on two cases that have received a lot of media attention this year -the situation of the Bodnariu family and the scandal at the Romanian Opera – which, although seemingly different, bring certain national habits such as the passing of responsibility or the tendency to think we are better and to criticize others without seeing our own mistakes. At the end of the performance, the actors are joined on stage by a psychologist who invites the audience to enter into an open discussion about the performance and other controversial or taboo subjects that are part of the play’s theme.

Sauvage – salon-hairdresser-massage in a provincial town, Romania 2017. Seven perspectives, seven scenes, seven performers. Each performer takes on all seven roles/perspectives. Discussions slide from what underwear that leaves no trace through the dress looks like, to what an open relationship or the ideal penis size means, while elsewhere an event takes place that will change their lives forever. A community under the pressure of fear caused by power relations, corruption and supposed supernatural forces becomes incapable of action. The malpractice is collective and the consequences are obviously catastrophic.
MAL/PRAXIS is an Active Arts project developed together with master students and professors of acting from the Department of Theatre Arts of Lucian Blaga University Sibiu in co-production with Radu Stanca National Theatre Sibiu.

Bodies and identities that don’t match. Atypical bodies and identities. Fluid bodies and identities that refuse to be imprisoned in socially acceptable patterns, weakened by public judgement, mute in a world that noisily asserts its restrictive patterns of representation.

Directed by Bogdan Georgescu
We deconstruct classical theatrical patterns and question through a performative discourse how social and political structures influence our private lives. When the world is a stage where the rhetoric of insecurity and fear increasingly shapes our view of life, we come up with a counter-proposal: to celebrate our sensuality and our belonging to the queer community and the Roma minority.Sexodrom is a group theatrical production produced as a result of the playwriting workshop “Politics in Private”, which aimed to explore with young Roma artists and young people topics still taboo in the Romanian public space.

In an effervescent, TV talk-show atmosphere, we participate in the fictional dialogue of the three most notorious names in the history of Romanian communism: Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, Ana Pauker and Nicolae Ceausescu. This is a unique opportunity in the studio of the political analysis snow “Cult of Personality” to get to know the points of view of these three controversial Romanian leaders about a crucial but almost forgotten historical period: the post-war communism of the 1950s.

Can you encompass in one performance all the eternal gratitude and appreciation for the non-conforming bodies that through the endurance of dance built the stage on which you now move? It’s impossible, but you will certainly have to pay tribute to them. Repeat after me: “Arms become the tool. The tool that will tell a story!”— thank you Javier Ninja! “Let your mane continue your sentences” – thank you Leiomy Maldonado! “Forget your ego!” – thanks to Willie Ninja! Bow down to all that is iconic and all that has gone before you, “for even those who have gone, walk the catwalk among us” — thank you Benji Hart!
